As an Optometric Office Assistant in Vision Therapy , you'll play a vital role in helping patients unlock their full visual potential—improving not just how they see, but how they learn, work, and live. What Is Vision Therapy? Vision therapy is a personalized, non-surgical therapy program designed to improve how the eyes and brain work together. It goes beyond simply seeing clearly—focusing on skills like eye tracking, coordination, focusing ability, and visual processing. Patients who benefit from vision therapy include: Children struggling with reading, attention, or learning difficulties Individuals recovering from concussions or brain injuries Adults experiencing eye strain, double vision, or poor visual coordination Through guided exercises and activities, vision therapy helps patients build stronger, more efficient visual systems—often leading to life-changing results. Why This Role Matters In this position, you're not just working in an office—you're helping people overcome challenges that affect their confidence, education, and quality of life. Watching a child gain the ability to read comfortably, or seeing a patient return to work after a brain injury, is incredibly rewarding. You'll build relationships with patients over time, celebrate their progress, and be part of their success stories. What makes a great vision therapist? A passion for working with children and improving their potential The ability to think on your feet and troubleshoot quickly Ability to be a good teacher and clearly communicate exercises and home assignments to children and adults Team oriented work ethic Ability and willingness to assist in other areas of the practice where needed Friendly and personable telephone skills Microsoft Office proficiency The ability to navigate and learn medical record software with ease Constant desire to improve on current methods and processes leading to the growth of the practice The ability to communicate openly with and assist fellow team members Ability to articulate ideas in individual and group settings Excellent time management skills Previous experience in education, occupational therapy or other related fields Strong organizational skills Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment What experiences do we need in a vision therapist?
