Job Description

Category Schools - Orientation and Mobility Specialist Job Type Contract A specialized opportunity awaits for an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) to work with a student requiring make-up services in a home-based setting. This part-time, contract position spans the full school year and consists of two 40-minute sessions per week, with scheduling flexibility based on candidate availability. As a credentialed OMS, you will utilize your skills to help a student with complex needs build essential spatial and positional concepts while navigating familiar indoor environments. The primary goal will focus on supporting the student in identifying and relocating specific environmental features such as doorways and furniture using terms like left/right, near/far, in/out, and next to. Your expertise will be pivotal in helping the student meet targets over consistent sessions, adhering to both state and ECC orientation and mobility standards.
Qualifications:
Active Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) endorsement required Experience working with students who have complex needs is strongly preferred Solid understanding of spatial/positional concepts and the ability to translate these practices to home settings Passion for student empowerment and skill development through clear, evidence-based strategies Strong communication and documentation abilities
Responsibilities:
