Job Description

Category Schools - Orientation and Mobility Specialist Job Type Contract A rewarding part-time opportunity is available for an Orientation and Mobility Specialist eager to make a difference supporting a student with complex needs in a home setting. This contract position is designed to provide essential make-up services—two sessions per week, each lasting 40 minutes—running through the entire school year. Situated conveniently near Canonsburg, PA, the role offers scheduling flexibility for the right professional. In this position, you will utilize your expertise to help your student navigate their indoor environment, with a specific focus on developing spatial and positional awareness (i.e., concepts like left/right, near/far, in/out, and next to). Success in this role centers on guiding the student to independently identify and locate features throughout their home, aligning with the outlined O&M goal and established standards.
What We're Looking For:
Endorsement or certification as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) required Strong background working with students who have complex needs, preferably in educational or therapeutic settings Experience developing and implementing targeted O&M instructional strategies Exceptional communication and organization skills Competence and patience for supporting skill-building in a home environment, collaborating with family as needed Availability for two 40-minute sessions weekly, with flexibility in scheduling
Role Responsibilities:
