In this vital role, you'll partner with educational teams to provide expert instruction and guidance, empowering students with visual impairments to navigate their schools and communities confidently.

Key Qualifications:

Current certification as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) Experience working with children or young adults with visual impairments Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities Deep understanding of mobility techniques, adaptive devices, and technology for individuals with vision loss Ability to develop and implement individualized mobility plans and assessments

Primary Responsibilities:

Conduct comprehensive orientation and mobility assessments for students, identifying strengths and needs Create and implement individualized instructional plans to enhance safe, independent travel Teach techniques for using canes, adaptive technology, and environmental cues in diverse settings Collaborate closely with educators, administrators, and families to ensure student success Monitor student progress, document outcomes, and adapt strategies as needed Provide training and resources to school staff and caregivers to reinforce skill development As an Orientation and Mobility Specialist in this dynamic school setting, you'll experience the satisfaction of seeing students gain confidence and independence day by day.
