Duties Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy assessments to evaluate patients' physical, cognitive, sensory, and emotional needs. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans aimed at improving functional abilities and promoting independence in activities of daily living (ADLs). Assist patients with ADLs such as dressing, grooming, feeding, and mobility to foster self-sufficiency. Coordinate discharge planning by collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure seamless transitions from inpatient or outpatient settings to home or community care. Provide specialized interventions for individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders, autism spectrum disorders, or disabilities across pediatric and adult populations. Document patient progress accurately using electronic health records (EHR), ensuring compliance with medical documentation standards and medical terminology. Engage in case management activities including goal setting, progress monitoring, and adjusting treatment plans based on clinical outcomes. Support early intervention programs, outpatient clinics, skilled nursing facilities, inpatient units, home health services, and school-based environments as needed. Educate patients and their families on therapeutic exercises, adaptive techniques, and strategies to maximize functional independence. Collaborate with speech therapists, physical therapists, physicians, educators, and other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive care. Skills Extensive experience working with individuals with disabilities across various age groups including pediatrics and geriatrics. Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and evidence-based occupational therapy practices. Proficiency in implementing occupational therapy programs tailored to clients' unique needs in diverse settings such as outpatient clinics, inpatient units, schools, or home health environments. Skilled in conducting occupational therapy assessments and developing effective treatment plans aligned with client goals. Experience working with students with disabilities and special education needs within school-based programs. Ability to assist clients with ADLs and support discharge planning effectively. Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) management for clinical documentation and medical record keeping. Excellent client communication skills coupled with the ability to collaborate within interprofessional teams. Knowledge of pediatric occupational therapy techniques including early intervention strategies. Experience working with neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism spectrum disorder supports your ability to provide targeted interventions. Acute care experience including ICU or inpatient settings enhances your capacity for rapid assessment and intervention in critical moments.
