What You Will do in thisRole:
Physiological Knowledge, Health Promotion and Maintenance, Creating a Safe, Effective Environment, Motivating Others, Legal Compliance, Quality Focus, Bedside Manner, Clinical Skills, Pain Management, Persistence, Energy Level Meet the patient's goals and needs and provide quality care by assessing and interpreting evaluations and test results, determining occupational therapy treatment plans in consultation with physicians or by prescription. Help patient develop or regain physical or mental functioning or adjust to disabilities by implementing programs involving manual arts and crafts, practice in functional, prevocational, vocational, and homemaking skills, activities of daily living, and sensorimotor, educational, recreational, and social activities, directing aides, technicians, and assistants. Promote maximum independence by selecting and constructing therapies according to individual's physical capacity, intelligence level, and interest. Prepare patient for return to employment by consulting with employers; determining potential employee difficulties; retraining employees; helping employers understand necessary physical and job result accommodations. Evaluate results of occupational therapy by observing, noting, and evaluating patient's progress, recommending and implementing adjustments and modifications. Complete discharge planning by consulting with physicians, nurses, social workers, and other health care workers; contributing to patient care conferences. Assure continuation of therapeutic plan following discharge by designing and instructing patients, families, and caregivers in home exercise programs; recommending and/or providing assistive equipment; recommending outpatient or home health follow-up programs. Document patient care services by charting in patient and department records. Maintain patient confidence and protect hospital operations by keeping confidential information. Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations. Protect patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols. Ensure operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs. Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies. Develop and conduct in-service training programs. Comply with federal, state, and local legal and certification requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions. Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.What Qualifications You Will Need:
Graduate of an accredited school of Occupational Therapy. Unrestricted and current state of Texas licensure required. Master's Degree preferred BLS required. 3-5 years experience in an acute care setting preferred.Your Shift:
PRN (shifts will be Mon-Fri 8am-5pm as needed) LHSH Incentives Flexible Scheduling No mandatory overtime Lubbock Heart & Surgical Hospital specializes in the care of cardiac, orthopedic, nephrology, urology, and general medical patients. We are also a highly active inpatient center mainly centered on surgical procedures that include cardiothoracic, orthopedic, urology, and general surgery. We have a 24-hour Emergency Department with 5 fully equipped ED rooms, 4 fully operating OR rooms, 4 cardiac catherization labs with 1 electrophysiology room, 11-day surgery rooms, 58 acute care beds spread over three units, and 16 cardiac critical care rooms.
