Category Schools - Orientation and Mobility Specialist Job Type Contract Step into a specialized role working directly with K-12 students as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist. This contract opportunity takes place on-site, serving a single middle school and one student, allowing you to provide personalized, meaningful support. The assignment is part-time, requiring a commitment of about one hour each week, divided into two 30-minute sessions. The position will start as soon as possible and continue through the end of May 2027.

Key Qualifications:

Active Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS) license is required Prior experience or training as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist within an educational setting Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with educators and related service providers Commitment to enhancing student independence and safety, utilizing evidence-based practices

Responsibilities:

Deliver direct, individualized orientation and mobility instruction to one middle school student Assess student's mobility needs and develop tailored instructional plans Monitor progress and adjust strategies to align with student goals Communicate with faculty, caregivers, and multidisciplinary team members to ensure cohesive support Maintain accurate, timely documentation of services and progress
