Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated School Occupational Therapist to join our educational team, providing vital therapeutic services to students with disabilities and special education needs. In this role, you will assess and develop individualized treatment plans, support students in achieving functional independence, and collaborate with educators, families, and healthcare professionals. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in pediatric occupational therapy, including working with neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism spectrum disorder, and have a strong foundation in clinical documentation and evidence-based practice. Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy assessments to evaluate students' functional abilities and needs Develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans tailored to each student's goals Assist students with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as dressing, grooming, and feeding Support discharge planning processes by coordinating care transitions and providing recommendations Collaborate with educators to adapt classroom activities and environments for students with disabilities Document clinical progress accurately within electronic health records (EHR) systems and maintain detailed medical documentation Provide training and consultation to staff and families on therapeutic strategies and interventions Engage in case management activities, including progress reporting and compliance with educational and healthcare regulations Support students with neurodevelopmental disorders, including autism spectrum disorder, through evidence-based occupational therapy practices Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to ensure comprehensive care planning Assist with school-based therapy programs that promote physical rehabilitation, sensory integration, or motor skills development Requirements Valid licensure or certification as an Occupational Therapist with relevant state or regional authority Proven experience working with children in school settings or pediatric environments Strong knowledge of pediatric occupational therapy techniques, including assessments and treatment plan development Experience working with individuals with disabilities, neurodevelopmental disorders, or special education needs Familiarity with medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and clinical documentation standards Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) management and medical documentation practices Skilled in implementing occupational therapy programs aligned with evidence-based practices Excellent client communication skills for engaging effectively with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams Prior experience supporting students with autism spectrum disorders or other neurodevelopmental conditions is highly desirable Knowledge of ADLs assistance, discharge planning processes, case management strategies, and post-acute care settings such as inpatient or outpatient clinics is advantageous If you are passionate about pediatric occupational therapy and committed to enhancing student outcomes through compassionate care and collaborative practice, we encourage you to apply.
