Position Overview:
Ipswich Public Schools is seeking a skilled and collaborative Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to support students during the Extended School Year program. The COTA will work under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist to provide services aligned with students' IEPs, with a focus on preventing regression.
Key Responsibilities:
Implement occupational therapy services as outlined in student IEPs under the direction of a licensed OT Support students in developing and maintaining fine motor, sensory, and functional life skills Collaborate with ESY staff, including special educators, related service providers, and paraprofessionals Assist with data collection and documentation related to student progress Adapt materials and environments to support student access and participation Maintain a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment Participate in team meetings and communication with the supervising OT as needed
Qualifications:
Associate's degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program Current certification as a COTA Experience working with children and/or adolescents, preferably in a school setting Knowledge of IEP implementation and special education practices preferred Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills
