Job Description

Direct Care, Home Health Aides, CNA's looking for Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm, as well as a slight change of pace! We are seeking a dedicated, personable, health care professional able to work in unison with the Day Program and Therapists. This position allows flexibility to participate in various activities and groups throughout the day while ensuring both the Day Program and Therapy sessions run smoothly for our cliental.

Provide direct care services to clients the rehabilitation and day program to ensure care while clients are in attendance.
Requirements :
At least 18 years old and be able to effectively communicate with staff and clients CPR and First Aide Certification Vehicle Training Completion of specific procedural skills competency
Duties and Responsibilities :
• Assist the clients with therapy, structured day program activities as well as hygiene, toileting, transfers, and mealtime activities. This includes following proper body mechanics when assisting clients and performing duties. Following all dietary restrictions, medical, behavioral, and general safety precautions. Assist the clients with following their schedules and assist clients during therapy sessions, as directed by treating therapist. Monitor client's performance during rehab and day program and report any significant issues to the program supervisor and/or treating therapist. During hours where clients are not in therapy, utilize that time to encourage the clients to engage in recreational activities with peers or engage in productive use of time. Facilitate recreational activities participation for the clients. Assist and follow behavioral protocols for all clients. Respond appropriately when deescalating clients, or assisting with emergency situations. Supervise clients for safety. This includes ensuring clients are wearing seat belts in wheelchairs, and a good understanding of the basic functions of both the standardized wheelchair and motorized wheel chair and other mobility devices. Familiarity with different types of seatbelts buckles and rationale behind their use. Assist with safe evacuation during emergency situations. Administer /document medication if certified by DDD to do so. This includes applying ointment if needed while changing/toileting clients. Maintain all required documentation. Follow state laws and regulations as well as universal institute policies and procedures as outline in the employee handbook, policy and procedure manual and Department of Rehabilitation operations manual. All staff should be alert and observant while working with all clients. Knowledge and understanding of seizures and other medical protocols set in place for specific clients. Attend monthly meetings provided by supervisor, and adjust accordingly to any changes provided regarding work responsibilities and clients' needs. Assist the clients in all areas of care on scheduled community outings. • Assist clients with outerwear and personal clothing when they arrive and depart from the Day Program. Assist in other areas of the rehabilitation and day program as needed for staff coverage. Accompany clients to the emergency room or medical appointments, if necessary. Maintain cleanliness and general organization of or working areas, equipment, and supplies. Report to supervisor any equipment that needs repair or any potential hazardous situations.
Physical Demands :
On a daily basis, almost constant interaction with brain-injured individuals. Required to lift, carry, push, and pull brain-injured individuals and objects (some of whom weigh as much as approximately 300 pounds). Frequently required to lift, carry, push and pull 150 or more pounds. Frequently required to walk, stoop, kneel, crouch and reach. Must be to speak, hear and see. Depth perception is required. Working Conditions Involves regular interaction with a wide variety of unpredictable and often inappropriate conduct and comments by brain-injured individuals • Universal precautions will be observed in order to prevent contact with blood or any potentially infectious material. Under circumstances in which differentiation between body fluid types is difficult or impossible, all body fluids shall be considered potentially infectious materials.
