JOB DESCRIPTION
To provide activities to restore, maintain, or improve functional skills, and to improve students' abilities to achieve in the classroom.
QUALIFICATIONS
Currently licensed as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant by the National Board of Certified Occupational Therapists (NBCOT) and meet state licensure requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Administer occupational therapy standardized tests/procedures following demonstration of competence under the direction of the Occupational Therapist, Registered (OTR). Use activities, materials, and equipment related to occupational therapy. Implement the goals and recommend activities provided in the occupational therapy section of the students' Individual Educational Plans (IEP). Provide documentation of students' progress in occupational therapy programs on a regular basis, communicating data to the OTR, and completing required documentation. Share therapy activities with students' teachers, families, and others involved with the students to allow programs to be continued outside the classroom. Utilize and maintain occupational therapy equipment to ensure a safe and sanitary environment for students and staff. Inventory and determine needs for equipment and supplies. Perform other duties as assigned.
SALARY:
Nine-month position, beginning salary level 39, employee benefits in accordance with Board Policies. This position is considered EXEMPT from the requirements of hourly employees under the Fair Labor Standards Act.
EVALUATION
Performance to be evaluated in accordance with Board Policy on the evaluation of support personnel.
