Under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist, the COTA will assist in implementing individualized treatment plans designed to help children and patients improve functional skills, independence, and participation in daily activities. Work Schedule & Paid Holidays:
Full-Time, Monday-Friday School-based and Clinic-based programs operate on separate calendars. Holiday schedules and time off periods may differ depending on where services are being provided. Calendars and additional resources can be found on www.accel.org
Position Responsibilities:
Evaluates, remediates, and provides consultative assistance to professional staff to school districts and/or parents on perceptual/sensory motor, fine motor adaptive equipment, including augmentative communication and feeding that impede a student's/client's effective functioning in the community. Investigates case situations and presents information to multi-disciplinary team, and other professional staff, on students/client's background pertinent to diagnosis and treatment. Help students/clients respond constructively to intervention and treatment within either the school or clinic setting, and to facilitate the transition back into the school district or other setting. Assists in the evaluation of students/clients upon entrance to the program. Conducts individual or group therapy programs to remediate sensory motor, functional or other related disorders. Plans, directs, and conducts remedial programs to improve student's/client's functional skills and facilitate learning within the therapeutic program as the need arises. Coordinates with supervisor to determine diagnostic needs and OT materials used throughout Accel. Coordinates with supervisor to ensure that all Therapy Department equipment is serviced and maintained. Performs related duties, special assignments and projects as required by the Therapy Supervisor.
Work Environment:
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Clients/Students may exhibit inappropriate physical behavior which may include hitting, biting, kicking, etc.
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate's degree in occupational therapy required Current certification as an Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) Valid Arizona Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners License. Obtain an AHCCCS number for submission of Medicaid billing. Valid Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card. Employment is contingent on the completion of a background check.
