Job Description

Job Opening:
Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) -
PRN Location:
Hayward Gardens Post Acute Starting Wage:
$52 per hour
Essential Duties:
Resident Treatment:
Provide care to residents as directed by the Occupational Therapist.
Documentation:
Complete timely, accurate, and compliant documentation in accordance with facility, governmental, and third-party payer requirements.
Safety Maintenance:
Maintain a safe treatment environment by adhering to infection control, safety, and equipment maintenance protocols.
Participation:
Engage in Resident Care conferences and/or Rehabilitation meetings as needed.
Training Assistance:
Support the nursing department in training Restorative Aides.
Communication:
Communicate routinely with the supervising occupational therapist to provide timely updates to physicians, nursing staff, the interdisciplinary team, residents, and families regarding progress, goals, and discharge planning.
In-Service Training:
Conduct in-services on training programs for other facility staff as required.
Education:
Educate residents, families, and caregivers on treatment goals, home exercise programs, maintenance programs, safety techniques, and fall prevention strategies.
Equipment Recommendations:
Recommend and facilitate the ordering of necessary durable medical equipment for residents to promote independence in activities of daily living (ADLs), including adaptive equipment, splints, assistive devices, elevated toilet seats, and grab bars.
Confidentiality:
Maintain confidentiality of resident information and company information.
Equipment Reporting:
Report any issues with department equipment to ensure it is maintained in good working order.
Quality Improvement:
Contribute to quality assurance, performance improvement initiatives, and facility rehabilitation program development as assigned.

Relate positively, effectively, and appropriately with residents, families, staff, and professional colleagues.
