  • Part-time, Full-time Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our team in the school setting.
In this vital role, a Pediatric Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) works under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist to provide therapeutic interventions that support children's development, independence, and participation in daily activities. The COTA assists in implementing treatment plans that address fine motor skills, sensory processing, self-care, play skills, and other areas critical to a child's functional success in home, school, and community settings. Responsibilities Implement individualized therapy plans designed by the supervising Occupational Therapist. Provide direct treatment to children to improve fine and gross motor skills, sensory regulation, coordination, self-help abilities, and social participation. Monitor and document children's progress toward treatment goals and communicate updates to the OTR. Adapt and prepare therapy materials, equipment, and activities to meet each child's needs. Collaborate with caregivers, teachers, and interdisciplinary team members to promote consistency of therapeutic strategies across environments. Participate in planning and conducting parent and staff training sessions as directed. Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including daily treatment notes and progress summaries, in accordance with state and facility guidelines. Ensure a safe, supportive, and engaging therapy environment. Experience Knowledge of child development, sensory integration, and play-based therapeutic approaches. Pediatric experience strongly preferred (clinic, school, early intervention, or hospital setting). Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with children and families. Strong observation, documentation, and problem-solving skills. Ability to follow treatment plans and adapt activities to meet individual needs. Compassionate, patient, and creative approach to therapy.
