Will provide coverage at MMH and RGC for all inpatient behavioral health units first shift Monday-Friday Work where every moment matters. We invite you to become part of Connecticut's most comprehensive healthcare network as an Occupational Therapy Assistant. The Greater Manchester Region has approximately 2,500 employees. It includes Manchester Memorial Hospital, a 249-bed community hospital, Rockville General, a campus of Manchester Memorial Hospital, a 102-bed facility, a large multispecialty provider group and visiting nurse services. The Greater Manchester Region serves a region of 300,000 people in 19 towns. This position reports directly to the Lead Occupational Therapist. Responsible for providing direct clinical services on the Behavioral Health Unit for both adolescents and adults. The incumbent, under the supervision of the Occupational Therapist will be involved in the development and coordination of groups and activities. Accountable for providing individual and group treatment based upon treatment plan and unit needs. In close collaboration with the Occupational Therapist, will ensure that treatment interventions are appropriate, meeting the patient's individual functional status and up to date with current discipline practices. Contributes to creating a caring and compassionate environment through core values of respect, teamwork, and communication. Qualifications
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION
Associate's degree in Occupational Therapy from a college with an Accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program. National Occupational Therapist Assistant Certification and State of Connecticut Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) license required. Must be trained in PMT and de-escalation techniques, and receive certification within 6 months of hire into the role.
EXPERIENCE
Previous Behavioral Health experience working with adolescents, adults, geriatrics, and substance abuse population in an acute care setting preferred.
COMPETENCIES
Must have basic computer knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook. Must have excellent verbal and written command of the English language and communication skills in order to effectively communicate with patients and staff. Must be flexible in approach Must be able to function effectively and, at times, independently in an environment where multi-tasking is necessary. Must maintain active certification and complete all continuing education requirements.
