Job Description

We are seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our team in St. Petersburg, Florida. This full-time position offers a stable, rewarding opportunity to provide high-quality, patient-centered care. The COTA will work under the supervision of licensed Occupational Therapists to support patient treatment and help individuals improve independence in daily living.
Responsibilities:
Assist OTs in implementing individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings. Provide therapeutic exercises and ADL training to restore function and improve independence. Support patients with mobility, coordination, and fine motor skill development utilizing adaptive equipment as needed. Educate patients and caregivers on treatment plans, home programs, and adaptive strategies. Monitor and document patient progress, communicate updates to the supervising OT, and maintain accurate records in the electronic medical record (EMR) system. Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, including OTs, physicians, and other healthcare professionals, to ensure comprehensive patient care. Maintain compliance with ethical, legal, and facility policies related to patient care and documentation.
Qualifications:
Associate's degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant from a CAPTE-accredited program. Current NBCOT certification and active Florida OTA license. CPR certification (preferred). Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Previous clinical experience preferred but not required.
Work Environment:
Full-time position with consistent, predictable scheduling (40 hours per week). Potential work settings include hospitals, outpatient clinics, rehabilitation centers, skilled nursing facilities, or home health.
