JOB SUMMARY
Provide occupational therapy treatment, instruction and other related activities to patients as assigned by the attending Occupational Therapist and in strict compliance with the established Plan of Care and per the supervision requirements mandated by state law or payor regulations, whichever is more stringent).
EDUCATION, WORK
EXPERIENCE, and SKILLS Graduate of an associate degree/two-year Occupational Therapist Assistant Program approved by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE). Licensed as an Occupational Therapist Assistant in Iowa A person who demonstrates the physical and mental capabilities (practical &/or written, post training competency test) to perform the duties required of the position A person who can meet the physical demand level of the position
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide patient treatment, instruction and other related services following the Occupational Therapist's evaluation and establishment of the patient's plan of care Promote independence in activities of daily living through problem solving, suggesting adaptations, objective measurements and observation of the patient Report all significant outcomes of patient treatments to the Occupational Therapist for intervention and/or plan of care revision Maintain necessary documentation including daily patient progress notes, home/exercise instructions and any other support entries allowed by State statute Document the name of the supervising Occupational Therapist per patient as required by Iowa State statute Report all patient care activities performed requiring program modification immediately to the Occupational Therapist Assist with and/or carry out routine cleaning, maintenance and support operations of the clinic's physical plant, patient care equipment and supplies in accordance with regulatory standards and policies and procedures Comply with the facility's compliance plan which includes but is not limited to: Business & Clinical Operations, Environmental Health & Safety, HIPAA, Human Resources and Code of Conduct as well as all facility policies and procedures and educational requirements. Comply with all local, state and federal regulations training and instruction requirements as well as any other standards that govern healthcare services provision Perform other duties as assigned as permitted by law & training
