Job Description

Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant | New Part-Time Opening in Glen Carbon, IL! •Opening is for the 2026-2027 School Year•
SUMMARY:
Hope is a clinical, educational, and therapeutic provider for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including Autism Spectrum Disorder. The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA), in collaboration with a licensed Occupational Therapist, promotes the physical, social, behavioral, emotional, and skilled development of adults to their highest potential. The COTA is responsible for implementing the identified programs and services associated with sensory-motor, cognitive, and daily living skills, as well as, improving the residents range of motion, muscle strength and tone, coordination and level of neurodevelopment.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Provide treatment, guidance, and instruction to residents in individual and group settings, following induvial plans of care developed and evaluated by the Registered Occupational Therapist. Assist residents in developing various communication skills to enhance their ability to make their wants and needs known. Collect data and write progress notes as specified within each resident s program plan. Maintain occupational therapy equipment in good repair and make adjustments as necessary or order supplies to main adequate inventory. Promote motivation in treatment through creativity and treat residents with sensitivity and confidentiality. Assist therapist with evaluation and record keeping procedures as directed. Recognizes behavioral signs of illness, pain, injury, discomfort or any deviations from normal client behavior and promptly reports those deviations to the appropriate person. Assumes responsibility as a mandated reporter concerning incidents of purported abuse/neglect of clients as outlined in the Agency Policies/Procedures. Performs other duties as required or assigned.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING
: Degree in Occupational Therapy from an approved college or university program. An associate s degree in occupational therapy assisting and by the National Occupational Therapist Association. Must be 21 years of age. Experience with persons with Developmental Disabilities is desirable. Successful background clearance, physical, drug/alcohol screening\ Must have a current OTA License with the state of Massachusetts.
WHAT WE PREFER
Enhanced understanding of medical/clinical records, consents, and confidentiality. Exceptional communication, interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
