Full-time Job Description:
The Katherine Thomas School in Rockville, MD has an opening beginning with the 2026/2027 school year for a Full-Time Occupational Therapist or an experienced COTA. The Katherine Thomas School is a private, non-profit special education school that services students with language, learning, sensory motor disabilities, and autism that serves students in grades K- 12. KTS offers smaller caseloads and more face to face time than many other programs. EOE Salary range for 10 months for the OT is $65,500

Occupational Therapist:
Evaluate and provide individual and group therapy as well as classroom integrative services Work closely with the educational team to provide comprehensive services to students on their caseload Prepare accurate and timely documentation and report progress of students Participate in school and departmental staff meetings Responsibilities of the
COTA:
Assist with and contribute to the diagnostic and rehabilitative services provided by the school Occupational Therapy department In collaboration with and under the supervision of an OTR/L, provide quality direct patient care, including evaluation, treatment planning, implementation, and follow-up of occupational therapy, according to accepted standards of practice. Maintain knowledge of the principles, practices, methods, and techniques of occupational therapy Come be a part of a supportive team and make a difference in the lives of children.
Experience and Skills:
Requirements for the
Occupational Therapist:
Master's from an accredited Occupational Therapy program Certified by the American Occupational Therapy Association Eligibility for Maryland licensure must be established prior to employment Two to three years of pediatric experience and at least 1 year of school experience is preferred Assistive technology experience a plus Ability to determine the need for an occupational therapy evaluation Ability to develop occupationally based intervention plans Requirements for the
COTA:
Associate's degree in occupational therapy from an accredited educational program Certification by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy and eligibility for a Maryland licensure must be established prior to employment Two to three years of pediatric experience and at least 1 year of school experience is preferred Must maintain current licensure and certification status consistent with state and professional standards
