Job Description

The Grover at Kirkwood, a leading senior living community, is currently seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our compassionate team. As an Occupational Therapy Assistant, you will play a crucial role in improving the daily lives and overall well-being of our residents. This position requires a deep understanding of geriatric therapy needs and a passion for delivering exceptional care. COTA (Certified Therapy Assistant)
Responsibilities:
Assess and evaluate the functional abilities and limitations of residents through comprehensive evaluations, observations, and interviews. Develop personalized treatment plans tailored to individual resident needs, goals, and abilities, aiming to enhance independence and quality of life. Provide a wide range of evidence-based therapy interventions to maximize residents' physical, cognitive, and psychosocial functioning. Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop holistic care plans for residents, ensuring their safety, comfort, and optimal recovery. Educate residents, their families, and staff on therapeutic techniques, adaptive equipment, and strategies to maintain independence and reduce dependency. Regularly evaluate residents' progress, modify treatment plans as needed, and document outcomes accurately and comprehensively.
Requirements:
Proven experience as an Occupational Therapy Assistant, preferably in a geriatric or senior living setting. Solid understanding of occupational therapy principles, assessments, and interventions, with expertise in treating seniors. Excellent knowledge of common age-related conditions, such as arthritis, dementia, stroke, and mobility challenges, and ability to adapt therapy plans accordingly. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to establish rapport with residents, families, and colleagues. Compassion, patience, and empathy to work effectively with older adults. Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, to clearly articulate therapy plans, progress, and recommendations. Basic computer skills, including proficiency in electronic health record systems. Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team.
