Job Description

Category Schools - COTA Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding contract position as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) supporting students throughout a district for the 2026-2027 school year. This full-time opportunity features a district-wide assignment near Belen, NM, offering you the chance to collaborate with a talented team and make a daily difference in the lives of children and adolescents. As a COTA in the school setting, you'll benefit from a flexible caseload, gaining experience with a variety of student needs and age groups. You'll work closely with occupational therapists, educators, and families to facilitate student growth, access, and independence within their educational environment.

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

Current Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant licensure in New Mexico (or eligibility to obtain) Graduation from an accredited COTA program Previous school-based experience is preferred, though strong new graduates are also encouraged to apply Excellent communication and collaborative skills Ability to adapt and respond flexibly to diverse caseloads and evolving student needs

Key Responsibilities:

Implement evidence-based occupational therapy interventions as outlined in student IEPs under the supervision of an OT Assist students in developing or regaining daily living, sensory, and fine motor skills Document student progress and collaborate on IEP teams Consult with teachers and families to support carryover of skills in classroom and home settings Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and district in-services as needed Enjoy a dynamic position that provides opportunities for collaboration, professional growth, and meaningful impact throughout the school year.
