GENERAL:
A Certified Assistant must hold a certificate of completion from an accredited 2 or 4 year program in a highly specialized area. Duties include, but are not limited to, evaluating student needs, establishing and delivering program plans, and providing direct services to students in that highly specialized area with a high level of independent initiative.

Supervising Administrator or Designee
QUALIFICATIONS
Successful completion of an accredited 2 or 4 year program resulting in Certification in a specialized area such as Occupation Therapy Assistant or Speech/Language Assistant. Must be able to communicate well orally and in written form, work independently, and use time well. Must demonstrate expertise working effectively with a variety of students, parents, school personnel, and community support services personnel. RESPONSIBILITIES
Evaluate needs of students and provide written recommendations for further evaluation. Plan, develop, and implement program goals and activities. Instruct, supervise, monitor, and assess students in the program while maintaining appropriate student behaviors and social skills. Use a variety of tools and protocols appropriate to student needs. Document student progress, prepare reports, and maintain Medicaid and student data sheets as requested. Maintain ongoing communication with school personnel and community service personnel. Maintain strict confidentiality of student information, providing information to parents, teachers, and others on a "need to know" basis, only. Maintain program equipment and materials. Attend staff, I.E.P, parent, and other meetings as required. Follow state and federal laws and local policies and procedures in the area of educational requirements and program operations. Participate in required in-service training programs and professional supervision. Other duties as assigned or appropriate to the particular work setting.
