Full-time Optometric Technician Duties:
- Perform preliminary tests and measurements for patients, including visual acuity, color vision, depth perception, and eye pressure
- Assist with patient intake and history-taking
- Prepare examination rooms and equipment for optometrist
- Administer diagnostic tests, such as retinal imaging and visual field testing
- Educate patients on contact lens insertion, removal, and care
- Assist with contact lens fittings and ordering
- Perform basic repairs and adjustments on eyeglasses
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records
- Handle medical billing and coding tasks
- Manage inventory of eyewear and contact lenses
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or certification in optometry or ophthalmology is a plus
- Proven experience as an optometric technician or similar role preferred
- Knowledge of Epic electronic health record system is highly desirable
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients of all ages
- Proficient in retail math calculations for sales transactions
- Familiarity with medical billing procedures and coding systems
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Experience working with pediatric patients is a plus We offer competitive pay based on experience.
