  • Part-time, Full-time Job Overview We are seeking a highly motivated, skilled, customer-focused optometric technician who is willing to become a longterm part of our practice in Laguna Niguel.
You will play a vital role in delivering exceptional eye care and patient service. This position involves assisting with optometric examinations, managing patient interactions, and making product and service sales in the optical. You'll be the friendly face guiding patients through their visit, ensuring a smooth, efficient experience while maintaining the highest standards of confidentiality and professionalism. We are looking for an enthusiastic and friendly candidate who is eager to learn and grow with us. Ideal candidates should be quick to learn the use of pretesting equipment (OCT, retina photos, tonometry, etc.) Should be computer-savvy to use EMR efficiently. Experience in optometry or ophthalmology is a plus, but we're willing to train the right candidate. MUST be able to work Saturdays. Responsibilities Conduct patient pretesting, including measuring glasses and operating diagnostic imaging equipment such as OCT and tonometry devices Prepare patients for exams by taking comprehensive intake information and updating medical records accurately within an electronic health record (EHR) system Manage front desk duties including scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and maintaining patient confidentiality in accordance with clinical confidentiality policies Educate patients on eye care, treatment plans, and available optical products while providing excellent patient service and support for retail sales when applicable Asssist in contact lens training/frame/lens selection and glasses selection in the optical Maintain clinical supplies, clean and calibrate medical equipment regularly, and adhere to HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy Requirements Prior experience in medical office settings or ophthalmology clinics is highly preferred Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or similar platforms for managing electronic health records efficiently Familiarity with ophthalmic diagnostic imaging equipment including OCT and tonometers Ability to perform direct patient care tasks with compassion, professionalism, and attention to detail Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality at all times Excellent communication skills for intake interviews, explaining procedures, and providing outstanding patient service Retail experience or optical knowledge is a plus for supporting optical sales and product recommendations Ability to handle multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and professionalism
