In this vital role, you will assist the ophthalmologist in providing comprehensive eye examinations, perform essential diagnostic tests, and support the smooth operation of our ophthalmology clinic. Your energetic approach and attention to detail will ensure patients receive exceptional service while maintaining the highest standards of safety and confidentiality. Duties Conduct patient intake by gathering medical history, verifying insurance information, and updating electronic medical records (EMR systems) with accuracy and efficiency. Measure vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and oxygen saturation to assist in comprehensive eye assessments. Perform ophthalmic diagnostic tests including visual acuity assessments, intraocular pressure measurements, and slit-lamp examinations using aseptic techniques. Assist ophthalmologists during examinations by preparing instruments, maintaining a sterile environment, and ensuring patient comfort throughout procedures. Manage medical records with meticulous attention to HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and data security. Support clinic operations at the front desk by scheduling appointments, answering patient inquiries, and managing retail sales of eyewear and accessories with retail math skills. Utilize EMR systems like Epic for documentation, coding procedures accurately for billing purposes, and ensuring seamless communication across departments. Educate patients on eye health, post-operative care, and medication instructions while providing excellent patient care with empathy and professionalism. Qualifications Proven experience in medical office settings or ophthalmology clinics is highly preferred; strong clinic experience is a plus. COA/COT certified preferred Knowledge of anatomy, physiology related to the eye, and medical terminology necessary for accurate testing and documentation. Familiarity with optical experience, including understanding eyewear products and retail sales processes. Ability to perform intake procedures, take vital signs accurately, and follow aseptic techniques diligently. Proficiency with EMR systems such as Epic or other electronic health records; experience with medical coding and billing is advantageous. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in managing medical records and clinic workflows. Excellent communication skills for front desk duties, patient education, and team collaboration. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure compliance with patient privacy standards.
