This position is ideal for an individual with prior ophthalmology experience who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume specialty practice and is passionate about delivering exceptional patient care. The successful candidate will be a well-rounded ophthalmic clinical technician with advanced scribing skills, strong clinical knowledge, and the ability to support physicians efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and patient service. This role requires someone who is highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to multitask effectively in a busy clinical environment. Essential ResponsibilitiesClinical & Scribing Responsibilities Accurately document physician-patient encounters in real time within the electronic medical record (EMR). Obtain comprehensive patient histories, including chief complaint, history of present illness, medications, allergies, and relevant ocular history. Perform comprehensive ophthalmic workups, including: Visual acuity testing Intraocular pressure measurements Pupillary assessments Extraocular motility testing Visual field screening Lensometry Refractions (preferred) Ocular imaging and diagnostic testing as needed Prepare patients for examination and assist physicians during clinic. Accurately enter examination findings, diagnoses, treatment plans, and orders as directed by the physician. Assist with patient education regarding medications, procedures, and postoperative instructions. Maintain exam rooms, equipment, and supplies according to established protocols. Ensure all documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant with regulatory standards. Patient Care Deliver exceptional customer service while creating a welcoming and compassionate patient experience. Communicate professionally and effectively with patients, physicians, and fellow team members. Address patient questions and concerns while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism. Assist in coordinating patient flow to maximize clinic efficiency while maintaining quality of care. Qualifications Required Minimum of 2 years of ophthalmology experience required. Previous experience as an ophthalmic scribe and clinical technician. Strong understanding of ophthalmic terminology, anatomy, diagnoses, testing, and treatment plans. Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills. Highly detail-oriented with exceptional documentation accuracy. Ability to prioritize, multitask, and remain organized in a high-volume, fast-paced clinical environment. Strong computer skills and proficiency with electronic medical records. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also functioning independently. Preferred COA, COT, or COMT certification. Experience with Modernizing Medicine (ModMed) EMR. Experience assisting with cataract, glaucoma, retina, cornea, oculoplastics, or comprehensive ophthalmology clinics. Desired Attributes Positive, professional, and dependable.
