In-person About Blinking Owl Eyecare Blinking Owl Eyecare is a patient-focused optometry practice committed to providing exceptional eye care in a warm, friendly, and professional environment. We believe in creating a positive, team-oriented workplace where both our patients and employees feel valued. We're looking for a motivated, dependable, and customer-focused Optometric Assistant to join our Coral Gables team. This position combines front office administrative responsibilities with hands-on patient care. If you enjoy helping people, thrive in a fast-paced environment, are comfortable using computers, and are eager to learn the clinical side of eye care, we'd love to meet you. Optometry experience is a plus, but we're happy to train the right candidate with excellent customer service skills, a positive attitude, and a willingness to learn. Responsibilities Welcome and check in patients with a warm, friendly, and professional attitude Schedule, confirm, cancel, and reschedule patient appointments by phone, text, and email Answer incoming phone calls, respond to messages, and assist patients with questions Verify vision insurance eligibility (EyeMed, Davis Vision, Spectera) and explain insurance benefits and out-of-pocket costs Collect patient copays and process payments Maintain accurate patient records through scanning, faxing, and data entry Perform patient pre-testing prior to the doctor's exam using: NCT (Non-Contact Tonometer) Auto Refractor

Retinal Imaging Save diagnostic images and documentation into patient charts Prepare exam rooms and equipment for the doctor Assist with patient flow throughout the day to ensure an efficient schedule Perform appointment confirmation and yearly patient recall calls Educate patients on recommended services, including retinal imaging, dry eye treatments, and myopia management Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming office environment Assist with opening and closing office procedures Work collaboratively with doctors and team members to deliver an exceptional patient experience Perform other administrative and clinical duties as assigned Qualifications Previous customer service experience required Optometry, ophthalmology, optical, or medical office experience preferred Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred, but not required Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Strong organizational and multitasking abilities Comfortable using computers and learning new software Strong attention to detail and accuracy Ability to multitask and remain organized in a fast-paced environment Professional, dependable, punctual, and team-oriented Positive attitude and willingness to learn Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment Schedule Part-Time or Full-Time 8-hour shifts Weekday and weekend availability required Holiday availability as needed Open and flexible availability is strongly preferred based on the needs of the practice Pay & Benefits Starting pay from $16.00 per hour Performance-based bonus opportunities for: Dry Eye Treatments Myopia Management Retinal Imaging One complimentary comprehensive eye exam each year Hands-on training and continued learning opportunities Supportive, team-oriented work environment Opportunities for growth within a growing practice If you're passionate about helping people, enjoy working in a fast-paced healthcare environment, and want to build a rewarding career in eye care, we'd love to hear from you.
