Job Description
Ophthalmic Technician Job Description As an Ophthalmic Technician, you will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional patient care within our ophthalmology practice. Your expertise will support our team of eye care professionals as you assist with various clinical tasks, ensuring that each patient receives the highest standard of service. You will be at the forefront of patient interactions, performing vital procedures and contributing to a positive and efficient clinic environment. What you'll do Conduct patient intake and gather comprehensive medical histories while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Measure and record vital signs, including visual acuity and intraocular pressure, to assist in accurate diagnosis. Utilize aseptic techniques while preparing patients for examinations and assisting during procedures. Operate and maintain ophthalmic equipment to perform diagnostic tests such as visual field testing and fundus photography. Document patient information accurately in Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems, to support seamless communication among the healthcare team. Provide education to patients regarding their conditions, treatment options, and post-procedure care. Collaborate with front desk staff to manage appointments, medical records, and billing processes efficiently. Support retail sales by assisting patients in selecting eyewear and understanding optical products. Basic qualifications Strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology related to the eye. Familiarity with medical terminology specific to ophthalmology. Experience in a medical office setting or clinic environment. Preferred qualifications Previous experience in ophthalmology Proficiency in medical coding and billing practices.
