This role involves providing exceptional patient care, accurately documenting clinical encounters, and supporting ophthalmology providers in a fast-paced medical environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology, along with experience in ophthalmology or medical office settings. This position offers an opportunity to work closely with patients while utilizing electronic medical records systems such as Epic and EMR platforms. The role is essential in ensuring smooth clinic operations and delivering high-quality eye care services. Responsibilities Assist ophthalmologists during patient examinations by documenting clinical notes and procedures as a scribe. Perform patient intake, including gathering medical history and current concerns. Measure vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and visual acuity. Maintain aseptic technique during procedures to ensure patient safety and infection control. Provide patient care support by explaining procedures and answering basic questions about eye health. Manage medical records accurately within EMR systems like Epic, ensuring confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Support front desk operations including scheduling appointments, checking patients in/out, and managing patient flow. Assist with optical services and retail sales of eyewear products when necessary. Perform basic clinic duties such as inventory management, data entry, and billing support related to ophthalmic services. Uphold clinic standards for professionalism, patient privacy, and safety at all times. Experience Prior experience in ophthalmology or medical office settings is preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology related to eye health is highly desirable. Experience with EMR systems such as Epic or other electronic health record platforms is advantageous. Background in retail sales or front desk operations can be beneficial for patient interaction roles. Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and maintaining patient confidentiality is required. Previous experience with medical coding or billing related to ophthalmic services is a plus. Clinic experience working with pediatric or specialty populations (e.g., pediatrics) is considered an asset.
