Job Description

We are currently looking for Multifunctional Optical Technicians to join our team onsite in our Orlando, FL office. We offer a 9/80 work schedule and foster a professional, high-energy culture where employees are empowered to succeed. This position supports optical manufacturing by performing precision cleaning, coating, inspection, assembly, and testing of visible, infrared, and specialty optical components. This role ensures product quality and compliance through detailed inspections, metrology, documentation, and adherence to quality system requirements. The technician works cross-functionally with engineering, quality, and production teams to support process improvements, inventory control, and customer-specific requirements.
Responsibilities:
Clean, inspect, prepare, load, unload, and package optical components (visible, IR, specialty) before and after coating. Perform incoming, in-process, first article, and final inspections to verify conformance with specifications, drawings, and customer requirements. Conduct optical, mechanical, and functional testing using microscopes, spectrophotometers, Zygo, Talysurf, Optikos, MPI, and other metrology equipment. Assemble optical and fiber optic components, including lens holders and IR/visible assemblies; apply Loctite, inspect, clean, and package assemblies. Identify defects, reject nonconforming material, write nonconformances, and support corrective actions. Maintain accurate inspection records, test reports, coating logs, maintenance logs, and quality documentation in accordance with the Quality System. Perform inventory control, transactions, and cycle counts using the VISUAL manufacturing system. Prepare coating fixtures and lens arrays for internal processing or external vendors. Conduct environmental, cosmetic, and performance testing for new and existing vendor coating qualifications. Support engineering, NPD, and production with testing, process development, troubleshooting, and special requirements. Maintain calibration, cleanliness, and proper operation of inspection and manufacturing equipment. Train and support coworkers in inspection, testing, and quality procedures as needed. Comply with all company policies, safety guidelines, and regulatory requirements. Perform assigned tasks while properly wearing required PPE and following all safety protocols. PPE includes smocks, shoe covers, safety glasses and gloves. Perform other duties as assigned Stop any nonconforming process(es) which may affect safety, poor quality or customer satisfaction Report any halted nonconforming process(es) to production manager, quality department, and/or process engineer. Knowledge, ability and skills: Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow drawings, blueprints and schematics to determine the specifications of parts and materials Experience with test equipment, measuring devices and computers to record information Must be able to communicate with all levels of employees from the production floor Regularly required to sit, talk and hear Frequently required to walk or smell Fast learner, driven problem solver. Outgoing personality, professional demeanor with excellent work ethic. Occasional standing, reaching with hands and arms, climbing or balancing and stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling Must regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus Occasional exposure to the following: work near moving mechanical parts, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and risk of radiation. Able to work with moderate level of noise Must be able to read, write, and speak fluently in
English Experience/Qualification :
High school diploma or GED and two (2) years of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of experience and education Must be authorized to work and reside in the US and must be eligible for any required authorizations from the U.S. Government to confirm with but not limited to U.S. export control regulations (ITAR) but not limited to U.S. export (ITAR) guidelines.
Preferred:
Fiber Optics Training and Certification or equivalent.
