Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Technician to join our team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in providing exceptional patient care within an ophthalmology setting. You will assist ophthalmologists in various clinical tasks, ensuring a smooth workflow and enhancing the overall patient experience. Duties Conduct patient intake, including obtaining medical history and vital signs. Perform preliminary eye examinations and tests, including visual acuity, manifest refractions and tonometry. Assist with diagnostic procedures and treatments as directed by the ophthalmologist. Maintain aseptic techniques during procedures to ensure patient safety. Document patient information accurately in electronic medical records (EMR) systems. Manage medical records and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations. Provide education to patients regarding their eye health and treatment plans. Support front desk operations, including scheduling appointments. Collaborate with team members to maintain a clean and organized clinic environment. Skills Strong patient care skills with a compassionate approach to healthcare. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality. Proficient in intake processes and obtaining vital signs. Familiarity with aseptic techniques relevant to clinical settings. Previous optical experience or knowledge of ophthalmology is highly desirable. Medical office experience with an understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology. Experience with EMR systems, particularly EyeMD, is a plus. Ability to manage medical records efficiently while ensuring accuracy. Experience in medical coding and billing is advantageous but not required. Background in pediatrics can be beneficial for those working with younger patients.
