Job Description
Responsibilities:
Perform preliminary patient screenings and assessments, including taking vital signs and documenting medical history
Assist ophthalmologists in various procedures and examinations, such as measuring visual acuity, tonometry, and administering eye drops
Conduct diagnostic tests, such as visual field testing, OCT scans, and corneal topography
Prepare patients for surgery and provide post-operative care instructions
Maintain accurate and detailed patient records
Assist with front desk duties, including scheduling appointments, verifying insurance coverage, and handling billing inquiries
Maintain cleanliness and organization of examination rooms and equipment
Qualifications:
Previous experience as an ophthalmic technician or in a related field preferred
Knowledge of ophthalmology procedures, equipment, and terminology
Familiarity with medical billing and coding processes
Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems
Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients and healthcare professionals
Understanding of basic anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology related to the eye
Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations
Scribing for the doctor Please note that sales experience is not required for this position.
