Position Summary The Optical Technician is responsible for collecting and recording ocular and systemic patient histories, visual acuities, BP, IOP, Auto refractions, Manifest Refractions, performing external examinations, and dry-eye testing, as well as disease specific extra testing. Travel between clinic locations and/or overtime may be required based on operational needs. Essential Functions and Responsibilities Collecting and recording patient medical history Instructing patients on post-operative care, medication use, contact lens care and exam expectations. Performing visual acuity testing, auto and Manifest Refractions (measurements for the glasses prescription), tonometry (measuring eye pressure) Measuring pupil size and reactivity Testing elements of movement (eye muscle function) Performing confrontational visual field testing, pachymetry (Corneal thickness measurement) Performing dry eye testing Maintaining a sanitized environment Performing corneal topography, retinal nerve fiber layer measurements, retinal thickness and topography, fluorescein angiography, B-scan ultrasonography Assisting with contact lens fitting and instructing patients on insertion and removal of contacts. Requirements:
Qualifications Minimum of one year working in an Optical facility supporting patient care. Prior experience in heath care or related field - required Skills and Abilities Superior interpersonal and communications skills. Ability to effectively multi-task Attentive to detail and accuracy.
