Job Overview Join our dynamic healthcare team as an Optometric Technician, where your enthusiasm and attention to detail will play a vital role in delivering exceptional eye care services. In this energetic position, you will support optometrists by preparing patients, conducting preliminary assessments, and ensuring smooth clinic operations. Your proactive approach will help create a welcoming environment for patients while maintaining the highest standards of clinical excellence. This paid role offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in ophthalmology and medical office procedures within a fast-paced, patient-centered setting. Duties Greet patients warmly and assist with the intake process, including collecting medical history and verifying insurance information. Measure vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and visual acuity to support accurate diagnosis. Prepare patients for eye examinations by performing preliminary testing, including refraction assessments and ocular measurements. Maintain patient records accurately using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems like Epic, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Assist with optical procedures, including frame fitting, lens selection, and basic adjustments to enhance patient satisfaction. Support the clinical team by practicing aseptic techniques during examinations and handling medical equipment safely. Manage front desk responsibilities such as scheduling appointments, answering patient inquiries, and processing payments with retail math skills. Maintain organized medical records and ensure confidentiality of sensitive information in accordance with HIPAA standards. Collaborate with the team on medical coding and billing processes related to ophthalmology services. Provide exceptional patient care by demonstrating physiology knowledge, anatomy understanding, and medical terminology expertise. Experience Previous experience working in a medical office environment or ophthalmology clinic is highly preferred. Familiarity with EMR systems such as Epic or similar platforms is advantageous. Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and ophthalmic procedures is essential for success in this role. Experience in retail sales or front desk operations can be beneficial for managing patient interactions effectively. Prior exposure to pediatric patients or experience in pediatrics is a plus for engaging younger patients comfortably. Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive medical records with discretion while adhering to HIPAA guidelines. Strong organizational skills combined with a proactive attitude will enable you to thrive in this energetic healthcare setting.
