Job Description

JOB TITLE
: Optometric Technician

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist in patient eye examinations and perform preliminary data collection, documenting and performing general patient workups, updating pertinent medical information, performing diagnostic testing Perform testing with patients including but not limited to visual acuity, tonometry, autorefractor, lensometry, color vision, confrontation fields, automated visual fields, OCT Maintain and clean/prepare exam rooms and equipment Document patient information accurately in electronic health records Communicate clearly and effectively with patients, co-workers, and others Collaborate with healthcare team to ensure high quality care to patients Manage overall flow of patients through eye exam process Demonstrate flexibility in performing additional duties of patient care Review patient appointment needs and respond to phone encounters in timely manner Other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) required One year experience as ophthalmic or optometric technician, with experience in preliminary testing and diagnostic tests (OCT, visual fields) Excellent verbal and written communication skills to communicate with other staff members and patients of all ages Must be able to record health information accurately and efficiently Excellent time management skills with ability to manage multiple tasks effectively Ability to work as both member of a team and independently General computer skills, including knowledge on operating Microsoft Office products Must respect Meskwaki cultural beliefs Must submit to and successfully complete background investigation
SUPERVISION
Direct supervision by Optometrist
SALARY LEVEL
Annual Salary Range:
$38,126.40 - $58,198.40
