Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Ophthalmic Technician to join our dynamic eye care team. In this vital role, you will provide exceptional patient care by assisting ophthalmologists during examinations and procedures, ensuring a smooth and efficient clinic experience. Your expertise in ophthalmic technology, patient interaction, and medical record management will contribute to delivering high-quality eye health services. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment where your skills directly impact patients' vision and overall well-being. Duties Prepare patients for examinations by taking detailed medical histories, measuring vital signs, and performing initial assessments. Assist ophthalmologists during eye exams, including testing visual acuity, intraocular pressure measurements, and other diagnostic procedures using specialized equipment. Ensure strict adherence to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols to maintain a safe clinical environment. Manage patient intake processes efficiently, including updating medical records and verifying insurance information while maintaining HIPAA compliance. Operate electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic and other EMR platforms to document clinical findings accurately. Conduct optical experience tasks such as lensometry, frame adjustments, and assisting with selection of eyewear. Support front desk operations by scheduling appointments, managing patient flow, and handling retail sales of eyewear products when needed. Maintain organized medical records, assist with medical coding and billing processes related to ophthalmology services, and support clinic administrative functions. Demonstrate knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology relevant to ophthalmology and pediatrics when caring for diverse patient populations. Qualifications Prior experience in a medical office setting or ophthalmology clinic is highly preferred. Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology related to eye health, and ophthalmic procedures. Proficiency with EMR systems such as Epic or similar platforms; experience with medical coding and billing is a plus. Excellent patient care skills with the ability to communicate clearly and compassionately with diverse age groups including pediatrics. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality at all times. Ability to perform intake assessments, measure vital signs accurately, and follow aseptic techniques diligently. Retail sales experience combined with retail math skills is advantageous for supporting eyewear sales initiatives. Pay:
$18.00 - $20.00 per hour
