Job Description
Job Overview Join our dynamic healthcare team as an Ophthalmic Technician, where your expertise will directly enhance patient care and vision health. In this vital role, you will assist ophthalmologists in providing comprehensive eye examinations, perform diagnostic tests, and support the clinical workflow with precision and compassion. Your energetic approach and attention to detail will ensure patients receive exceptional service in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment. Duties Conduct patient intake by collecting medical histories, verifying insurance information, and updating electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as Epic. Measure visual acuity to assist in accurate diagnosis and treatment planning. Perform diagnostic testing such as tonometry, visual field testing, slit-lamp examinations, and optical coherence tomography (OCT) and any other testing required by physician. Assist ophthalmologists during examinations by setting up equipment, maintaining aseptic technique, and ensuring patient comfort throughout procedures. Educate patients on eye health, pre- and post-operative care, and proper use of prescribed medications or devices. Maintain medical records with meticulous attention to HIPAA regulations for confidentiality and security of patient information. Support front desk operations by scheduling appointments, and assist in managing patient flow. Experience Preferred a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant, (C.O.A) or Prior experience in a medical office setting is highly preferred, especially within ophthalmology or optometry clinics. Strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology related to the eye, along with familiarity with medical terminology used in ophthalmic care. Experience using EMR systems such as Epic or similar platforms to document patient encounters accurately. Demonstrated ability to perform optical procedures with precision while maintaining aseptic techniques. Ability to work effectively as a team member, demonstrate reliable attendance, be punctual and dependable. Appointment scheduling and assisting patient needs through our entire visit is essential.
