Bilingual preferred but not required. Greet patients and assist with check-in and check-out procedures. Verify patient demographics and health and vision insurance eligibility. Obtain and update medical and vision insurance information. Perform pre-testing procedures, including visual acuity and preliminary eye measurements. Prepare patients for eye examinations and assist the optometrist as needed. Take patient histories and document medical information accurately. Perform tests such as autorefractor, lensometry, tonometry, and visual field testing as trained. Schedule appointments and manage patient records. Answer phones and respond to patient questions regarding appointments, insurance, and services. Obtain referrals and authorizations when required by insurance plans. Explain copays, deductibles, and other patient financial responsibilities. Enter patient information and clinical data accurately into the electronic medical record system. Maintain examination rooms, equipment, and supplies. Follow HIPAA and patient privacy requirements. Communicate professionally with patients, doctors, insurance companies, and coworkers. Assist with billing and insurance-related questions when needed. Provide excellent customer service and maintain a welcoming environment.
