We are looking for a versatile and energetic Clinical Optometric Technician to join our growing team.
Job Summary:
As a Clinical Optometric Technician, you will be the engine of our daily patient flow. You will work closely with our optometrists to guide patients through their exams, handling crucial pre-testing and post-testing procedures. Because we operate as a tight-knit family, the ideal candidate is a team player who is always ready to step in, adapt, and support other departments whenever needed to ensure a seamless patient experience.
Core Responsibilities:
Pre-Testing:
Welcome patients warmly, gather medical histories, and perform initial diagnostic testing (including auto-refraction, tonometry, and retinal imaging) to prepare patients for the doctor.
Post-Testing:
Perform necessary testing (visual fields, image scanning, etc) ,document findings, and guide patients through their next steps, including contact lens instruction or follow-up care coordination.
Cross-Departmental Support:
Maintain a "team-first" attitude by cross-training and filling in for other departments (such as the front desk, scheduling, or check-out) as daily patient flow and staffing needs dictate.
Patient Experience:
Ensure every patient feels comfortable, respected, and cared for from the moment they are called back to the moment they leave.
Clinical Maintenance:
Keep exam rooms and pre-testing equipment clean, sanitized, calibrated, and fully stocked.
Qualifications & Skills:
Experience:
Experience in optometry, ophthalmology, or a medical office environment is highly preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate with a stellar work ethic and strong customer service background.
Flexibility & Mobility:
Must have reliable transportation and the flexibility to split shifts/work consistent schedules between our Prestonsburg and Pikeville offices.
Adaptability:
A proven track record of being a team player who handles fast-paced environments with a positive, "can-do" attitude.
Communication:
Exceptional interpersonal skills—you should be naturally warm, professional, and excellent at making patients feel at ease.
Technical Savvy:
Comfortable utilizing electronic health records (EHR) systems and specialized medical equipment.
