In this vital role, you will assist ophthalmologists in delivering exceptional eye care services, perform comprehensive patient assessments, and support clinical operations with precision and compassion. Your dedication will help ensure a smooth, efficient clinic environment while providing patients with a positive and professional experience. This paid position offers a fantastic opportunity to grow your skills in ophthalmology and medical office procedures within a collaborative setting. Responsibilities Conduct patient intake by collecting medical histories, verifying insurance information, and updating electronic health records using EMR systems such as Nextech Intellichart Pro. Measure vital signs including visual acuity and confrontational fields to assist in diagnosing eye conditions. Prepare patients for examinations by performing preliminary tests such as tonometry, and refraction using aseptic techniques. Assist ophthalmologists and optometrists during exams and procedures, ensuring all necessary instruments and supplies are available and sterile. Maintain accurate medical records, including documentation of diagnoses, treatment plans, and billing codes in compliance with HIPAA regulations. . Follow clinic protocols for infection control, medical coding, billing procedures, and maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information. Qualifications Prior experience in a medical office setting or ophthalmology clinic is highly preferred but not necessary. We will train you! Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology related to eye health, and ophthalmic procedures. Familiarity with EMR systems such as Epic or similar platforms for documentation and scheduling. Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and data security. Experience with intake processes, aseptic technique, and clinical testing procedures. Ability to communicate effectively with diverse patient populations when necessary.
