An Ophthalmic Technician makes prescription eyeglasses and contact lenses by cutting and shaping lenses according to individual prescriptions. May make lenses for other optical equipment, such as telescopes or microscopes. Works in medical equipment manufacturing facilities and laboratories, retail stores, or in the offices of optometrists and physicians.

Job Description

We currently have an opening for a full-time technician at our Davidson location. Progressive office, upbeat environment, awesome team!! No evening or weekend hours. Pay is based on experience and includes hourly wages plus commission.
Detailed responsibilities include:
Patient pre-testing including: manual lensometry, auto-refraction, color and stereo testing Diagnostic testing of the eye including visual fields, iCare tonometry, fundus photography, Optomap, OCT and pachymetry Obtaining visual acuities Administering topical ophthalmic medications Preparing the exam room for the patient Taking patient history Assisting the doctors during the exam as needed Prescription requests and prior authorizations Scheduling appointments, checking out patients. Other responsibilities as needed
Preferred Qualities:
Previous eye care experience is required Selfless team player who is assertive, goal-oriented, positive and self-motivated Desire to work in a dynamic, fun, and fast-paced environment Strong ability to multi-task Comfort in a fast-paced environment High level of integrity Excellent communication skills Experience in optometry or related field is required. Experience with Optomap, tonometer, visual field and OCT are a plus. Competitive salary and full-time benefits include PTO and paid holidays.
