Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Ophthalmic Assistant to join our team. As an Ophthalmic Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting ophthalmologists and optometrists in providing quality eye care to our patients. Your primary responsibilities will include assisting with patient assessments, performing diagnostic tests, maintaining medical records, and ensuring a smooth patient flow within the clinic.
Duties:
- Assist ophthalmologists and optometrists in conducting eye examinations and minor surgical procedures.
- Obtain and record patient medical histories, including checking vision and intra ocular pressure.
- Utilize electronic health record to input and update patient information accurately.
- Adhere to regulations to maintain patient confidentiality and privacy.
- Handle tasks efficiently and assist patients with insurance-related inquiries.
- Demonstrate proficiency in Eye Anatomy knowledge to assist with eye exams and procedures.
- Practice proper Aseptic technique>to ensure a sterile environment during procedures.
- Familiarity with Epic electronic medical record system is a plus.
- Provide support in insertion and removal training to patients
Skills:
- Proficient in taking and recording basic eye exam elements.
- Strong knowledge of Medical terminology and eye anatomy.
- Familiarity with electronic health systems.
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations and patient privacy laws.
- Knowledge of ophthalmic equipment operation and maintenance.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical setting.
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
