OPHTHALMIC ASSISTANT

- Full-time This is a great role for those seeking to gain experience in a clinical position.
Duties:
- Perform preliminary eye examinations, including gathering patient medical history and conducting visual acuity tests.
- Administer diagnostic tests such as tonometry, fluorescein angiography, OCT, Visual Fields, ERG, and other ophthalmic imaging.
- Administer eye drops as directed by the providers (MD's, RN's and/or PA's).
- Prepare patients for ophthalmic procedures and surgeries.
- Clean and maintain ophthalmic instruments and equipment.
- Accurate documentation in our electronic medical record
- Communication with all departments such as leadership, front desk personnel, other ophthalmic assistants.
- Documentation and communication of most current clinic inventory and supply needs.
- Maintaining all technician rooms and examination rooms cleaned and stocked appropriately.
- Assist to open and close the office.
Requirements:
- Full time position that includes at least 2 Saturdays a month.
NOT OPTIONAL.
- Ability to travel to both Forest Hills and Gramercy locations. ALL candidates will be expected to work in both locations depending on the scheduling needs for each day. You will NOT be considered if you are unable to travel to both locations.
- Previous experience working in a medical office or healthcare setting (preferred)
- Proficiency in using electronic medical record (EMR) systems, such as Epic or Modernizing Medicine (preferred)
- Strong understanding of medical terminology and anatomy
- Ability to accurately measure vital signs and record patient information
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Being bilingual is a plus.
