Job Description

Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optometric Technician to join our healthcare team. This role involves providing exceptional patient care within a busy optometry clinic and supporting optometrists in delivering comprehensive eye care services. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical and optical procedures, excellent communication skills, and experience working with electronic medical records systems. Prior experience in medical office settings, ophthalmology, or retail sales related to eyewear is highly valued but not necessary. We will train the right person. This position offers an opportunity to develop specialized skills in eye health and patient management in a professional clinical environment. Duties Assist patients with intake procedures, including gathering medical histories and verifying insurance information Prepare patients for eye examinations by performing preliminary tests and assessments Conduct basic optometric testing using specialized equipment, ensuring proper technique Support optometrists during eye exams by managing equipment and documentation Maintain accurate and confidential medical records in EMR system, RevolutionEHR Educate patients on optical products, lens options, and proper eye care practices Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy at all times Support clinic operations by maintaining a clean and organized work environment Experience Prior experience in medical office settings or ophthalmology clinics is preferred Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology related to eye health, and medical coding/billing practices is advantageous Experience working with EMR systems is highly desirable Background in retail sales or front desk operations involving customer service and sales transactions is beneficial Familiarity with aseptic techniques and medical records management ensures high standards of patient safety and confidentiality Previous exposure to pediatrics or specialty clinics enhances ability to serve diverse patient populations This role requires a proactive individual committed to delivering quality patient care while supporting the operational needs of the clinic. Candidates should possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a compassionate approach to patient interactions.
Pay:
$17.00 - $20.00 per hour
