Measure vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, and oxygen saturation, to assist in comprehensive eye assessments. Prepare patients for examinations by performing aseptic techniques to maintain a sterile environment and prevent infections. Assist ophthalmologists during exams by operating optical equipment, such as autorefractors, slit lamps, and tonometers, ensuring accurate testing results. Document findings accurately using medical terminology, anatomy knowledge, and physiology principles to support diagnosis and treatment planning. Educate patients on eye health, procedures, and post-examination care while maintaining HIPAA compliance to protect patient privacy. Manage front desk responsibilities, including scheduling appointments, answering patient inquiries, and managing medical records with precision. Support billing and coding processes related to ophthalmic services using medical coding standards to ensure accurate reimbursement. Maintain inventory of ophthalmic supplies and ensure all equipment is functioning properly through routine maintenance checks. Uphold clinic standards by practicing excellent patient care, adhering to aseptic techniques, and following all safety protocols. Experience Prior experience working in a medical office environment with direct patient care responsibilities is highly preferred. Knowledge of ophthalmology procedures, optical testing equipment, and EMR systems such as Epic or similar platforms is essential. Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy (particularly ocular anatomy), physiology related to vision health, and HIPAA regulations is required. Experience with medical billing, coding (including ophthalmic-specific codes), and insurance processing will be advantageous. Demonstrated ability to perform vital signs measurement accurately and maintain meticulous medical records is necessary. Retail sales experience combined with front desk duties can be beneficial for managing patient interactions effectively.
