Job Description
Overview Join our team as an Ophthalmic Technician, where your expertise will directly enhance patient care and support the delivery of exceptional ophthalmology services. In this vital role, you will assist ophthalmologists with patient examinations, operate specialized diagnostic equipment, and ensure a smooth clinical workflow. Your dedication to maintaining patient comfort, confidentiality, and accurate medical documentation will contribute to improved eye health outcomes and a positive patient experience. Responsibilities Perform comprehensive ophthalmic patient examinations, including measuring vital signs and collecting detailed medical histories. Operate ophthalmic diagnostic imaging equipment such as biometry, OCT and Topography devices with precision and care. Assist with eye refraction tests and other ophthalmic assessments to determine visual acuity and diagnose conditions. Maintain strict adherence to clinical confidentiality policies and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient information. Prepare patients for examinations by conducting intake procedures, updating medical records, and explaining procedures clearly. Support ophthalmologists during procedures by setting up equipment, maintaining aseptic technique, and managing medical supplies. Manage electronic health records (EHR/EHR) systems accurately for documentation of exams, diagnoses, and treatment plans. Provide excellent patient service by addressing questions, ensuring comfort, and fostering a welcoming environment for diverse patient populations. Qualifications Prior experience in a medical office setting or ophthalmology clinic is highly preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy related to the eye, and ophthalmic procedures. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for managing medical records efficiently and accurately. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality at all times. Excellent communication skills with a focus on patient service and education. Ability to work collaboratively within a healthcare team while adhering to clinical confidentiality policies.
