Job Description

Overview Pierre Eye Clinic is a patient-focused eye care practice located in Pierre, South Dakota, providing comprehensive optometric services to individuals and families in the community. The clinic offers routine eye exams, diagnosis and management of eye conditions, and support with eyewear and contact lenses. Team members collaborate closely to deliver efficient, accurate, and friendly care in a professional clinical setting. Responsibilities Greet patients warmly, verify their information, and assist with the intake process to ensure accurate medical records. Measure vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and visual acuity to support comprehensive eye examinations. Prepare patients for exams by performing preliminary tests using optical and ophthalmic equipment. Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy and confidentiality at all times. Assist with aseptic techniques during procedures to uphold safety standards and prevent infections. Manage electronic medical records (EMR) systems or other platforms efficiently for scheduling, documentation, and billing purposes. Support front desk operations including appointment scheduling, retail sales of eyewear products, and handling patient inquiries.
Skills :
Excellent patient care skills with the ability to communicate clearly and empathetically across diverse populations including pediatrics. Foundational knowledge of Optometry or a willingness to learn clinical procedures, diagnostic testing, and basic eye health terminology. Demonstrated reliability, attention to detail, and ability to follow clinical protocols and confidentiality standards (HIPAA). High school diploma or equivalent required; prior experience in an eye care, medical office, or healthcare support role is preferred but not mandatory. Comfort working in a fast-paced environment, with strong organizational and time-management skills. Willingness to participate in on-the-job training and continuing education related to optometric care and clinic procedures.
