Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Technician to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will play a vital part in delivering exceptional patient care. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced, innovative setting where your skills in ophthalmology and patient interaction will make a meaningful difference. The Tech/COA/Scribe is responsible for assisting the physician and medical office personnel with a variety of patient care activities. Will assist the physician by gathering patient's medical information, documenting what the physician dictates during the patient exam. Responsible for translating for the doctor and communicating with the patient as needed. Ensures that all exam rooms are properly stocked and maintained. Scribe is responsible for greeting the patient and ensuring that all patient procedures are billed by/for physician. The Scribe will escort the patient and answer any needed questions as they arise. Duties of the
Job:
1. Greets patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous, professional and helpful manner. 2. Assists physician as needed with recording basic medical findings. 3. Obtains patient history and records results of patient exams on medical record as physician(s) orally dictate during patient exam. 4. Performs a variety of routine tests using ophthalmic instruments that provide diagnostic information including, but not limited to, lensometer, phoropter, kerometer, intraocular pressures, basic motility, visual fields, glaucoma scans. 5. Report (EMR) issues. 6. Instructs patients both verbally and with written instructions regarding medications and treatment as instructed by the doctor. Answers patient questions and follows up with patient as needed. 7. Assists with Call Backs as needed to ensure proper medication management and/or customer service. 8. Escorts patients to appropriate area (i.e., reception area, dilating room, lobby, etc. 9. Assists in pre-certifying procedures by contacting the Billing department and ensuring appropriate documentation is obtained from patient prior to exam being performed. 10. Explains procedures to ensure patient awareness and understanding. 11. Provides assistance to technicians as needed. 12. Clean and sterilize equipment and operate autoclave in accordance with established guidelines and procedures. 13. Assists physician (s) by obtaining supplies needed during patient care, stocking supplies on an ongoing basis to keep current stock requirements. 14. Cleans patient exam rooms to ensure they are in sanitary condition. 15. Demonstrates compliance with all provisions of safety rules and other policies and procedures. 16. Ensures that all medication samples are not expired. Ensures that samples are documented appropriately. 17. Maintains patient confidentiality. 18. Attends required meetings and participates in training as requested. Enhances professional growth and development through meetings, education programs, seminars and conferences. 19. Performs other duties to ensure the smooth flow of work/patients in the office. 20. Ensures that all equipment in clinic is maintained and in proper working order. Requests technical support as needed. 21. Ensures all records are accurate, complete and maintained properly in compliance with regulatory guidelines. 22. Other duties as assigned by management.
