In this vital role, you will support our doctors in providing exceptional eye care services, by performing patient pre-testing, managing medical histories and assisting with clinical performance to ensure a smooth patient experience from check-in to check-out. In your energetic approach and attention to detail you will create a welcoming environment that promotes patient satisfaction and clinic efficiency. This on the job training position offers a fantastic opportunity to develop your lateral thinking skills in both optometry and medical assisting within a fast-paced, patient-centered setting. Duties Greet patients warmly, perform intake procedures, and accurately document medical history using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems Prepare patients for eye examinations by performing preliminary tests, including visual acuity assessments and intraocular pressure measurements Assist opometrist with clinical procedures, maintaining aseptic technique to ensure patient safety and infection control Manage medical records with meticulous attention to HIPAA compliance, ensuring confidentiality of sensitive information Support front desk operations by scheduling appointments, verifying insurance coverage, and processing payments using retail math and billing systems Educate patients on optical products, promote retail sales of eyewear and accessories, and support clinic sales goals through friendly customer service Experience Previous experience in an optometric clinic or medical office environment is highly preferred Familiarity with optometry procedures, optical equipment, and anatomy/physiology of the eye enhances effectiveness in this role Knowledge of medical terminology, medical coding, billing practices, and EMR systems such as Crystal Practice Managment is advantageous Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to maintain patient privacy at all times Experience working with pediatric and geriatric patients is a plus for engaging patients effectively Retail sales experience combined with front desk responsibilities demonstrates versatility in managing both clinical and customer service tasks
