Lone Star Vision Group is seeking a professional Optometric Technician to support our optometrists and patients throughout the visit. This role is the critical link between patients, optometrists, and insurance providers - ensuring an efficient, exceptional experience. The ideal Optometric Technician is a clear communicator with strong customer service skills who efficiently manages patient flow and collaborates with optometrists and team members to maintain a positive, productive clinic environment. You will work closely with the Office Manager to complete daily operational tasks and uphold clinic policies and procedures, directly supporting patient satisfaction, smooth operations, and the growth of our practice.
Skills and Responsibilities :
Patient coordination: Greet walk‑in patients and those calling the office with a friendly, professional demeanor; schedule appointments; and enter patient demographics with accuracy and attention to detail. Pretesting & equipment: Operate pretesting and/or special diagnostic equipment for the Optometrist; open/prepare exam rooms and shut down exam rooms at end of day as needed. Check‑out & accuracy: Collect all charges for the visit, record them properly, and preparation of end of day fee slips.
Insurance support:
Assist with insurance verification (experience is a plus) and communicate clearly with patients and team members.
Contact lenses:
Complete contact lens trial orders accurately and on time.
Documentation:
Handle preparing/scanning/faxing/emailing tasks as assigned.
Patient concerns:
Answer and appropriately delegate patient complaints to ensure timely resolution. Safety & compliance: Follow all
HIPAA/OSHA
guidelines and the rules and regulations of the practice as documented in the business policy employee manual.
Cleanliness:
Clean and sterilize equipment as necessary and support end‑of‑day office duties.
Team operations:
Work collaboratively with the Office Manager and clinical team to support daily operations, patient flow, and a positive environment.
Requirements and Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED certificate Prior Experience in an Optometry Environment (Preferred) Clinical Experience (Preferred) Customer Service Background with Ability to Handle Patient Questions & Concerns (Preferred) Ability to work Monday-Saturday flexible schedule Experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook Ready to help people see the world more clearly?
